In a recent survey conducted by market watcher, DisplaySearch, it has been revealed that the sale of televisions had increased in the last quarter of 2009. The proportion of LED and OLED televisions is increasing it seems.
The market in the last quarter of 2008 was hit by recession and failed to sell an impressive number of television sales.
According to the report released by DisplaySearch, LCD TVs have helped to pull up the sale of the total number of TVs. In Q4 2009, there has been a 6 percent rise in the sale of plasma TVs, while CRTs faced a slump of 37 percent.
In 2009, a total number of 211 million televisions were sold. 50.73 million LCD TVs were sold in the last quarter of 2009 alone. Only 207 OLED TVs were shipped in the final quarter of 2008. This number has increased to 400 in Q4 2009. Although this shows 193 percent increase in the shipping of OLEDs in 2009, the sale is not consistent. Experts blame the high price for this, however.
