Samsung has embarked on the construction works of AMOLED plant 5.5-Gen.
The international company has been spending $2.2 billion US. In a press conference the company announced that the plant will be opened in July 2011. The plant shall have (1300 X 1500mm) 3 production lines.
Samsung has plans of bringing about revolutionary changes by introducing large sized OLED TV panels. OLED R&D VP announced few days before that the big sized OLED TV panels are feasible. The big wafer size shall support better competence in outsized as well as the undersized panels. For example 40 inches or 30 inches OLED TV panels. The manufacturing company plans to use the proposed plant for only the mobile displays for also for the OLED displays.
Samsung has taken a big leap in trying to bring about the revolutionary changes. There are other manufacturing companies as well who are following the same trend.
