The press gallery of the Amsterdam arena was decked up with 20 Sony XEL-1 11 inch OLED TVs.
This was done for the convenience of the press, so that they can repeatedly see the significant parts of the match.
The picture quality had impressed the press no end. Sony had taken the world by surprise in October 2007 when it announced the launch of the first OLED TV in the name of XEL-1.
This 11 inch piece of wonder was paper thin and had incredibly bright image. The XEL-1 was commercially launched with a price tag of $2500. Although Sony considers the XEL-1 to be only a prototype, it can be owned by consumers.
This 3mm thin OLED TV, with a resolution of 960 x 540, was used by the press to follow the match. The Sony XEL-1 had scored over the Plasma and the LCD TVs with its contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.
