AU Optronics has started preparing for their new production line scheduled for the third quarter of 2010.
Earlier the company had announced that it would recruit 2.500 new employees this year LCD panel production and OLED business. The company wants to start its OLED production line in 2011. Small and medium sized OLED panels will be produced and the 3.5G LTPS (low temperature polysilicon) line will be remodeled.
As estimated by AUO, using the a-Si technology, it will enter mass production of OLEDs by next year. The a-Si technology will be further developed by AUO owing to more stable circuits and better yield rates.
As mentioned by Vice President and General Manager of Consumer product Display business group of AUO, CT Liu, the company will focus on commercialization of small OLED panels in the fourth quarter of 2010.
The lower rate of power consumption and higher contract ratio of OLED make it more preferable for various applications. The OLED panels are also thinner that LCD and TFT panels.
