AUO presents a 14-inch OLED panel

 AU Optronics has showcased its 14 inch OLED panel and has confirmed that it is “ready for production”. 

This OLED panel comes with a Full HD resolution at 157 ppi. The 120 Hz panel has a contrast ratio of 100,000:1. The NTSC color gamut is 72%. On a white image, the brightness is 200cd/m2. For making the 14 inch OLED panel, AUO has used metal stencil mask with an evaporation method.

As confirmed by the company, the OLED panel is already being mass produced.

Several big names are joining the OLED bandwagon because it is considered to be the next big thing. OLED panels are not being used in the television industry, but also in the lighting industry.

Mobile phone companies are using OLED screens to make their high end phones more attractive.  OLED panels have certain advantages over plasma or LCD TV. It is very cost-effective because it does not require backlight. OLED panels are also flexible and some of them can function underwater.
