Brian Berkeley talks on the future of OLED displays

Brian Berkeley, VP – R&D, Samsung Mobile Display, talked exclusively in an interview about Samsung’s work in the OLED segment and its plans for the future.

Mr. Berkeley informed that Samsung is the only company in the world that is mass producing OLED displays and the company is looking to ramp up both in the volume of production and the size of the displays.

According to Mr. Berkeley, the advantage of OLED lies in the fact that it can be used both as flexible and transparent display and it produces high quality, crisp and deep pictures. Samsung is already using this technology in its mobile phones and smartphones and has plans to use it in TVs.

Because of the response time of OLED displays, they have high contrast and produce beautiful images on TVs. They are perfect for 3D TVs. He declined to say when OLED TVs will be launched but confirmed that work is on.
