There was a recent bulletin issued by the President of LG Display where he mentioned that he sees OLED TVs soon replacing LCD TVs in the display market.
He also mentioned that he sees the industry getting ready to mass produce large panel OLED TVs in 2014 while keeping the cost competitive.
It has already been reported that LG Display has invested in some new plants and by 2012 the company will be ready to produce 50 inch panels for the TV market.
This bulletin from the President of LG Display clearly tells us that at this moment, LG feels that the present OLED technology is way too expensive to compete with LCD technology.
The cost competitiveness will only be possible somewhere in 2014. Till then, viewers will have to keep watching TV on their LCD screens.
We have not heard the other players in the OLED technology say anything related to this bulletin.
