Flexible AMOLED Display by ITRI

A 4.1-inches flexible AMOLED Display has been unveiled by ITRI.

It is made on plastic substrates and displays image even when curved. The company claims that it is softer and more flexible than all its predecessors.

The prototype is monochromatic, but ITRI can adopt multi-colored materials when the panel will be mass produced.

The General Director of the Display Technology Centre of ITRI, John Chen states that the OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) is better than all other technologies. The lack of a backlight, optical films and polarizer will make OLED technology function better.

OLED is a striking combination of energy efficient, cost effective, light weight and large size technology.

Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan has presented a new line of flexible display technologies. The electrowetting displays, the Active Matrix OLED panels and roll to roll cholesterol liquid crystal displays have stolen the limelight.

The 6.9 inch roll to roll cholesterol liquid crystal display is the largest of its kind.
