OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) are being considered the most promising technology in lighting industry.
OLEDs have left LED far behind with the new touch controllers as it does not require the special touch foil to recognize points of contact. OLEDs uses homogeneous area light source which does this trick.
The touch controllers can be applied to the OLED displays used in mobile devices and PMPs.
The touch sensitive OLED displays give lighting a new dimension. Now it is possible to switch on and switch off lights with a mere touch of a finger. OLED are more suitable for touch controllers as it does not emit heat.
OLED touch controllers would also consume less power due to the absence of the special backlight panels used in LCDs. The characteristic efficiency and brightness of OLEDs will not be affected by the use of touch technology. This step by Fraunhofer IPMS has opened new avenues in illumination with OLEDs.
