The future of OLED TV: Looks Great

sonyoled1There are high chances of OLED TVs shifting out of the neutral owing to several hurdles.

The sky high cost of production of a new technology is partly responsible for this. Sony has scrapped its plans of launching its 21 inch and 27 inch OLED TV panels.

The only ray of hope comes from LG and Samsung. Each of these companies has expressed their desire to invest in the expensive OLED technology. OLED TVs are considered the next big thing, but, due to its exorbitant high rate, it cannot go into mass production.

The recent OLED World Summit 2009 testifies to the popularity of smaller OLED displays. OLED panels are being used in MP3 players, mobile phones and in the light industry.

According to Jennifer Colegrove, an analyst of DisplaySearch, $190 million revenue was generated in the second quarter of 2009. It is being considered the best quarter in the OLED industry.
