iSupply predicts OLED TV shipments to increase 200 times by 2015

iSupply has predicted that inspite of occupying a small part of the television market, the shipment of OLED TVs will increase by 200 times by 2015.

The number of units to be shipped in the next 6 years is 4.7 million. There are several challenges on the way to the development of the OLED technology.

The high rates of production, the lack of investors and the need of sound investment for improvement of quality are some of the problems that have to be overcome by the OLED manufacturers.

The increase of shipment will directly increase the revenue generated by OLED TVs, which is estimated to be a whopping $1.8 billion.

iSupply is of the opinion that the production of large AMOLED televisions are on a hold due to the absence of investment. OLED TVs have to be affordably priced to be able to give tough competition to LCD TVs.
