Researchers of the Electronic and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) of Korea have revealed that they have developed an oxide transistor, which is transparent and helps in increasing the aperture ratio of AMOLEDs.
This stable light modulator has been made using the atomic layer deposition process, which accelerates operational stability. With the help of this oxide transistor, a remarkable difference is seen in the optical and electronics quality.
ETRI, the state run organization of Korea, is said to have applied for 51 patents, both domestic and international. They are in search of a private company to hand over the technology. Some guess that ETRI will probably zero in on Samsung as this company is working on transparent OLEDs from before.
The researchers of ETRI are extremely overjoyed and assume that this new oxide transistor will make Korea top the transparent OLED market. Korea has been dominating the OLED industry with the production of new technologies like flexible and transparent OLED lights and displays.
