LG announced the launch of its 15 inch OLED TV in the U.S at the ISE 2010.
The U.S. launch is scheduled for mid 2010, although the exact date is not known. The LG EL9500 OLED TV had been selling in Korea for $2,500. With this release, the LG EL9500 will be the largest commercially selling OLED TV in the U.S.
The only other competition the 15 inch LG OLED TV faced was from Sony XEL-1. The demand for the Sony XEL-1 has been going down. This has resulted in the withdrawal of the TV from the Japanese market.
The LG EL9500 is expected to be a bigger hit owing to its larger screen size and better resolution. This HD-ready OLED TV continues to impress the consumers with its in-built wireless A/V link and the quick 100Hz refresh rate.
This 15 inch OLED TV will be the precursor of LG’s 19 inch and 20 inch OLED TVs expected to arrive soon.
