LG Display CEO on the future of OLED

Mr. Young Soo Kwon, CEO LG Electronics has said that his last challenge is to introduce OLED TVs in the consumer market and his goal is to ensure that LG is the world leader in this technology.

Mr. Young Soo Kwon has estimated that OLED TVs will be marketed en masse somewhere in 2013. To prepare for this mass production, LG has already planned a 8th Generation production line.

It is only this line that can produce these panels economically. LG also showed their 3D 31 inch panel at IFA-2010 LG Show.

LG already has ready customers for the 4.5 Generation production line in Paju that will begin production in a few months. A 5.5 Generation line is also in the plan of LG although the AMOLED panels produced here will only cater to the mobile display market.

LG supplies the IPS-LCD technology to Apple but Apple has been demanding AMOLED for its iPhone and iPad.
