According to Mr. Young Soo Kwon, the CEO of LG Display the company with a strong customer base and reputation now plans to increase their OLED development efforts.
In order to the mass production of OLEDs by three times and to amplify their monthly manufacturing capacity from the present 4,000 to 12,000 OLED glass sheets within the last quarter of 2011 LG Display will be investing $225.7 million. LG’s new production line is capable of handling 730 x 920 mm glasses.
To beat all their strong contenders like Samsung Mobile Display LG is planning to supply high quality AMOLEDs for top class mobile phones and smartphones.
Apple, who are already using LG OLED displays in their advanced mobile devices have extended the contract of 500 million Dollars to 800 million Dollars with LG Display.
The company will be manufacturing OLED displays for Flat Screen televisions as well.
LG have already planned a new OLED TV with 30 inch display in the second half of 2011.
