LG planning on large panel OLEDs in UK

We reported earlier that LG Electronics is planning to launch a 31 inch OLED TV in UK in the present year.

There is further news that LG Electronics plans to launch a 55 inch OLED TV in the UK market in 2012. This bit of news seems quite optimistic because LG itself believes that commercially priced and widely available OLED TVs will only hit the market sometime in 2013.

We think that even if LG Electronics actually releases the 55 inch OLED TV in 2012 it is bound to be quite expensive. This is based on the report that the 31 inch OLED TV that is scheduled for launch is going to cost no less than $9,000.

LG Electronics is working on OLED in a whirlwind fashion and they seem desperate to come up with a quick solution to produce OLED TVs in a cost effective manner. We will wait for further updates on this.
