LG is all set to mass produce the 30-inch OLED TV panels in 2012

Recently, the CEO of LG Display Kwon Young Soo has announced that the company is planning for mass production of 30-inch OLED TV panels in 2012.

Sometime back LG disclosed their plans for producing medium-sized OLED panels in the current year and later on the company decided to produce 32-inch OLED TV by 2011. But the economic slow down compelled them to change these plans.

The company is now concentrating on the research and development of large OLED TV panels rather than the mobile phone panels because, according to Young Soo, the efficiency of OLED panel increases with its size.

LG is intending to employ around 1,700 people in 2009-10 for research and development on latest OLED technologies. Young Soo also said in his report that the OLED TVs can become commercially successful only if these displays succeed in delivering better efficiency and superior picture quality than the existing LCDs.
