LG’s 15 inch W-OLED panel at SID 2010

LG has come up with its new W-OLED panel that was showcased at SID 2010.

LG predicts better lifetime and reduced discoloration with this new technology. There are some problems where the green seems brighter and red has a higher lifetime than blue.

In a standard panel, the discoloration starts immediately and to avoid the color changes in the panel the brightness from the RGB colors have to be checked.

LG Display’s new W-OLED panel is white light emitting. Whenever there is a refresh done, more pixels are released. This panel also displays only through colors filters for every pixel. Hence, the pictures are more colorful. This new panel also includes a polymer film that ensures that the aging of the panel remains constant throughout the entire display panel.

Some features of the panel include outline dimension of 384x211x1.7 mm, resolution of HD 1366xRGBWx768 pixels, 16.7 million colors, 200 nit brightness, 100% color gamut and 100,000:1 contrast ratio.
