Microsoft Introduced Gesture-based User Interface Using Transparent OLEDs

Recently Microsoft Applied Sciences has created a concept utilizing transparent OLED displays.

Microsoft has also employed a camera positioned underneath the transparent display in order to produce a gesture-based UI (user interface). The camera can actually see through the translucent screen and with this it will become possible to catch the input given by the user.

The user can easily manipulate different stuff in it as well. Microsoft has named this project as “The Wedge” to create which they have used all the latest technologies.

Many OLED experts have already suggested on the high potential of the transparent OLEDs and “The Wedge” has just turned these predictions into reality.

The transparent OLED display used by Microsoft in making this incredible gesture UI is made by Samsung. Samsung is already working on transparent AMOLEDs and in 2010 CES the company has showcased a transparent display meant for their latest laptop. This see-through display features a high resolution and brightness and gives excellent output.
