NanoPhotonica, a company that develops advanced materials, has now perfected a breakthrough and realizable QLED technology that it is now commercializing for production en masse.
As per NanoPhotonica, the new QLED displays will produce better quality pictures than OLED displays, will be 75% cheaper in cost and will consume 30% less power. This technology uses inkjet printing without vacuum deposition and hence, can produce all display sizes.
The major issues with OLED are high cost and limited lifetime and yield and this means that the OLED technology is only suitable for small devices at the moment.
With this new S-QLED technology from NanoPhotonica it will now be possible to manufacture displays that will not only last longer than OLEDs but will also significantly reduce the manufacturing cost and hence the cost to the consumer.
As per CEO Dr. Christopher Morton, NanoPhotonica has used a game changing approach to the manufacturing process, design and materials that are used in this new technology.
