Novaled in association with Eastman Kodak has developed the white single unit and white tandem OLEDs for active matrix OLED display panels.
At the 2009 Society for Information Display conference Kodak and Novaled presented the results of their joint research work in the field of white PIN OLEDs for the application in the Active Matrix OLED panels.
The single unit white tandem OLEDs are developed on the basis of the fluorescent emitter systems of the Eastman Kodak and the Novaled’s p- and n-type doped transport layers and can be used in RGBW OLED displays.
The energy efficiency of 15.8 cd/A along with the x y color coordinates of 0.32/0.35 and the lifespan is almost up to 30.000 hours. These were achieved with the single unit white OLEDs.
For the more stable tandem mode 33.2 cd/A of energy efficiency at color coordinates x y= 0.28/0.31 and lifetime of up to 77,000 hours are reached which is even better than the 51,000 hrs lifetime which was achieved with the traditional Li doping-based devices.
