We have heard the second generation iPad will hit the market in QI of 2011.
Coretronic will supply the back light units of the new iPad which means that we will see the same LCD Retina Display in the newest iPad generation.
It is not possible for Apple to have OLED panels for their next generation tablets because they will be needing millions of OLED panels right now. But Samsung Mobile Display, the leader in the market for OLED displays with 98% market share, cannot possibly manage this huge demand.
Samsung is going to boost their OLED production in mid 2011 through their new 5.5 generation plant. At this moment they can only mass manufacture 2 to 4.2 inch AMOLED panels for smartphones.
Samsung is already struggling to match the huge demand for OLED panels from HTC, Galaxy-S and Nexus-S and Nokia. They have just displayed a prototype 7 inch AMOLED panel.
