The latest report by DisplaySearch reveals that the OLED lighting industry will be worth $6 billion by 2018. The era of OLED lighting is said to start from 2011.
The production of OLED lights will graduate from small specimens to mass production. Some of the biggest names in the lighting industry like OSRAM, Philips, Lumiotec, GE and Konica Minolta will take up mass production of OLED in the new couple of years. This massive development is also gearing up the manufacturer of OLED televisions.
It is being foretold that large investments will be made in the OLED lighting industry especially in Japan, Europe and the US. Owing to the advantages of OLED televisions and displays more and more viewers are switching to OLED.
OLED displays have witnessed mass production in the last decade, but OLED lighting is still being sampled. According to the Director of Display Technologies of DisplaySearch, Jennifer Colegrove, this difference is because of the varied challenges in both the industries.
OLED lights are lightweight, thin and do not produce noise. It also has quicker switch on time. This makes OLED lights score over other lights.
