LG Display is set to invest heavily to the tune of USD 225.7 Million in their new mass production lines for OLEDs.
This investment is for the 4th Generation productions lines. This 4th Generation line, that is slated to start producing in 2011, will enable LG Display to produce small and medium OLED panels that are suitable for smartphones and netbooks.
Vice President of LG Display has announced that in 2012, the company’s new 5.5 Generation production line will be ready to start mass producing 50 inch OLED TV panels.
Mr. Vice President conceded that it is already too late for the company to think of occupying the lead position in the small and medium AMOLED section but the company will come out all guns blazing in the OLED TV segment.
LG Display has announced that it will leave no stone unturned to be the market leader in the OLED TV market.
