On a recent meeting of Ron Mertens with German Fraunhofer, few of the new projects that can be developed with OLED were discussed. The German Fraunhofer Institute is working on OLED pico-projectors, 3D OLEDs, Organic SOLAR, bi-directional OLED, transparent displays and OLED lighting. A pilot production line will also be developed.
OLED or Organic Light Emitting Diode is the next generation in display technology. OLED has created ripples in the market with their unparallel brightness and low power consumption. OLED is not only being used in the manufacturing of screens for mobile phones, televisions, computers, and cameras, but also in the light industry.
Researches are constantly being conducted to improve the quality of the OLED products and widen the scope of OLED usage. OLED displays are cheaper and boast of enhanced brightness and contrast. The limitations faced by the use of other flat screen technology have been discarded by OLED.
