OLED to replace PDP and LCD

As per Professor Jung Ho-Gyun of the Sungkyunkwan University, next year OLED will replace PDP and LCD in the flat screen TV market.

Professor Jung Ho-Gyun was speaking at the 7th OLED Winter School in Seoul when he made this observation. As per him, plastic has to be the future for OLEDs because this will not only enable the production in low cost but will also make flexible large OLED panels a reality. He thinks that by 2019 the world can expect rollable OLED TV like wallpapers. He quoted the example of the 4.5 inch plastic, flexible AMOLED that was recently displayed by Samsung.

Professor Jung Ho-Gyun used to the Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate R&D at Samsung SDI from 2006 to 2008. He was the leader for Active Matrix OLED since 2000 and is considered a world leader in bringing the AMOLED technology in the commercial market.
