In spite of so many television manufacturers venturing into the OLED market, Samsung is still the world’s largest OLED display manufacturer.
Samsung displayed a wide range of OLED televisions at the Society for Information Display (SID) 2009 held in San Antonio, Texas, from 2nd to 4th June.
The 31 inch diagonal OLED TV displayed in SID, is the first ever OLED display featuring 1920 by 1080 pixels full HD resolution.
With a color gamut exceeding 100% NSTC and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, this OLED TV will revolutionize the OLED market. The thickness is a mere 8.9 millimeters. A 14.1 inch OLED TV was also exhibited besides LCD displays for mobiles.
The world has also witnessed its thinnest flapping OLED display at the SID this year. This ultra thin panel is just 0.05 millimeters and can be fluttered by wind.
With a resolution of 480 by 272 pixels, this OLED panel is polarizer-free and has a remarkable contrast ratio.
