The OLED manufacturers are still not ready to produce 32 inch or bigger TVs at affordable prices.
Sony had taken everyone by surprise when it had launched the 11 inch XEL-1 last year at a price that was within the reach of consumers. However, the company made no progress with reasonably priced OLED TVs after that.
Earlier Sony had plans of launching the 21 inch and 27 inch OLED TVs, which were cancelled at the wake of greater problems relating to the production of TV.
There are high chances for OLED TVs to make a shift out of the neutral with the emergence of new standard bearers for the OLED technology. The most significant hurdle on the way of making OLED technology mainstream is the usurious price of production.
Manufacturers like LG and Samsung have announced their plans of making bigger investments on OLED TVs. With revenue of $190 million in the last quarter of 2009 makes the OLED technology an unexpected success during recession.
