OLEDNet Suggests the Use of White AMOLED

A fascinating article has been posted by OLEDNet saying that the OLED production succumbs in the evaporating deposition materials.

As stated by the article the process used for producing Thin Film Transistors-LCD takes approximately one minute, whereas it takes nearly 4 minutes to produce the high performance AMOLEDs.

To increase the speed of the AMOLED process the two eminent OLED manufacturers LG Electronics and Samsung are finding out new ways. While Samsung is working on a vertical method of evaporating deposition, LG is developing a horizontal system. But these latest methods will also take more or less 2 minutes.

OLEDNet proposes that the duration of inline evaporating deposition can be reduced to just 1 minute if a white OLED is used including a color-filter because this method could use RGB and various other elements in a single shadow mask sheet.

Though OLEDNet opines white OLED production to be the basic technology for future AMOLED panels there could be two major problems:

  • White AMOLEDs are still to be prepared for this,
  • The white OLEDs deliver poor color quality.
