OLEDs with the most incredible features like extraordinary energy efficiency, high resolution and amazing picture quality have, till now, been considered the future of flat screen TVs.
But there is a new concept called OLET or the Organic light emitting transistors which is believed to be hundred times more efficient than the OLEDs and thus could be the most possible way to the future high end devices based on organic light emitting technology.
Despite of its high performance and outstanding qualities the brightness and efficiency of OLEDs decreases with time due to the lethal photon loss and exciton quenching process which is inherent to the basic design of OLED.
According to the ISMN (Institute of Nanostructure Materials) researcher Michele Muccini OLETs are designed to restrict the weaknesses of OLED by using the concept of tri layer heterostructure field effect.
OLETs, which are the substitute planar sources of light, combine the altering method of a fine thin film transistor an electro-luminous appliance.
