Rumor has it that Panasonic is likely to launch the Leica D-Lux 5 with an OLED display in the third quarter of 2010.
One of the company’s latest posts reveals that a potential release is anticipated in the end of 2009. This has been interpreted by some analysts that Panasonic will launch the Leica D-Lux 5 in Photokina in 2010.
The much awaited Leica D-Lux 5 will feature auto lens cover and a few lens improvements besides the OLED display. 2010 is being deemed as the year of the OLEDs.
Panasonic wants to give tough competition to its rivals by entering the OLED market. Speculations are rife if the D-Lux 5 will be the last in the Leica series after which Panasonic will shift to Four Thirds.
Panasonic’s interest in OLED displays has also resulted in the company’s decision to start manufacturing OLED TVs in their new LCD television manufacturing company in 2010.
