It is being predicted that the market of AMOLED will grow rapidly in the next couple of years. The increased demand of OLED displays has resulted in remarkable increase in the production of OLEDs.
In a recent survey, it has been seen that the revenue collected from the sale of AMOLED in the year 2008 reached a growth of almost 100 percent. The $519 million of the last year is supposed to rise up to $6 billion by 2015.
The use of OLED has increased by manifold. These Organic Light Emitting Diodes are being used in computer displays, television screens, cells phones, and PDAs. OLED is also being utilized in the light industry in the production of large area light emitting items and general space illumination.
In 2008 OLED amounted for 1 percent of the total flat panel displays. According to a DisplaySearch forecast, it will rise to 5 percent in 2015. Some of the reasons behind this are that OLED save energy and do not require backlight for operation. This helps the manufacturers in developing slim and compact displays for various purposes.
