Who Is More Readable under the direct sunlight: Super AMOLEDs/AMOLEDs/LCDs?

One major vulnerable point of otherwise highly efficient AMOLEDs is the readability under direct sunlight.

Samsung, one of the leading AMOLED makers, has been trying really hard to cure this Achilles’ heel of the AMOLEDs by employing their most advanced Super AMOLED technology.

To test the sunlight readability of the AMOLED panels Techblog chose the 4″ Super AMOLED (480 x 800 pixels) display of Samsung Galaxy S and took this Super AMOLED screen to task by setting it against the 3.7 inch AMOLED display (480 x 800 pixel) of HTC Desire and the 4 inch TFT LCD screen (480 x 854 pixel) of Sony Ericsson XPERIA.

As you watch the embedded video posted by Techblog you will find that the LCD screen still wins an extra edge by surviving the scorching Greek sun.

While the difference between the sunlight readability of Super AMOLED display and the LCDs is almost negligible the visibility of the Super AMOLED under the harsh sun seems to be far better than that of the AMOLEDs.
