The Reason Behind Increasing Popularity of OLED Television

The latest breakthrough in the television market is the OLED television.

Owing to the presence of light emitting polymer or light emitting diode, the OLED televisions can emit variedly colored light by itself.

Since OLED televisions do not require backlights, the power consumption is considerably less and has a slimmer profile.

OLED displays are developed using carbon based components. Red, blue and green lights are emitted in response to electric current. The inner sensitive materials of the OLED display are supported by a hard material of plexiglass.

The latest buzz is about the new XEL-1 11 inch OLED television from Sony. It is the first OLED television in the market meant for consumer use. Priced at $2,500, the Sony XEL-1 might only be affordable by the sybaritic.

2010 will witness the launch of Samsung’s 14.1 inch OLED television among other OLED panels. OLED display is already being used in cameras, mobile phones and as wallpapers. Soon enough OLED display panels will also be used for laptop screens.
