Come the third quarter of 2010 and we’ll see AUO (AU Optronics) kick start the installation of equipment for their new production line for OLED television.
AU Optronics already has an existing 3.5G LTPS (low temperature polysilicon) equipment and the new line of OLED will be remodeled from this existing equipment. The 3.5G LTPS equipment has been idle and now the company has decided to do something new using the expertise that has already gone into it.
That is not all, AU Optronics has already started planning long term. 2011 will see another dynamic change because the company will foray into handsets and hand held devices too.
AU Optronics is planning to produce AMOLED panels for these devices. The AMOLED panels will be designed as small or medium sized and will fit the handsets and hand held devices perfectly.
