An increase of 17 percent in the profits has been reported by Samsung SDI last week.
Samsung is banking on the “solid” demand for AMOLED displays in recent times. Samsung has emerged as one of the leading producers of OLED televisions.
OLED is considered the next big thing in display and lights. Gone are the days of LCD or Plasma televisions. OLED televisions offer superior picture quality with the thinnest displays.
Samsung wants to develop their OLED displays and predicts that in the next five years OLED displays will replace the LCD screens of mobile phones. They are working on both small and large OLED display panels.
The latest to have been introduced by Samsung is the OLED window that has internal transplant display. They have also made the biggest investment in OLED display, $500 million. The company has plans of doubling their production by 2009 and doubling it again in 2010.
