New Samsung flexible AMOLED panel unveiled

FPD International 2010 will see Samsung Mobile Display unveil its 4.5 inch flexible AMOLED display panel.

This flexible panel offers WVGA screen resolution of 800×480 pixels. This panel, also called FOLED, has a radius of only 1 cm. this means that the amount of ghosting is at a bare minimum. Other features of this panel include low power consumption and a faster response time.

The flexibility of the FOLED panel results from the use of a special plastic material instead of the standard glass substrate. The use of this special plastic also means higher resolution.

As per Samsung Mobile Display, they have major plans of mass producing these flexible AMOLED panels very soon.

Samsung Mobile Display is also planning to introduce their 7 inch Super AMOLED display at the same FPD International 2010.
