Samsung Mobile Introduces Flexible AM OLED

Samsung Electronics and Samsung SDI have come together to form a new organization, Samsung Mobile.

And, this newly established company has come out with a 6.5 inch flexible active matrix organic light emitting diode (OLED) display.

In this latest technology low temperature is not required to produce the OLED display. This is going to bring down the production cost for OLED displays.

Previously, the flexible displays where produced only at a lower temperature and the production costs used to go up to create the low temperature.

The sticky glue for the interlayer had to be melted in a general fabricator. Now, the company has come out with a new glue that can be melted at higher temperature as well. In a flexible LCD the radius of the flexible area was 5 cm, but, now it is lower at 1cm.

According to Samsung Mobile this new type of OLED display works 1000 times faster than a standard LCD display and also the electricity consumption is much lower. The video output for OLED TV produced using this technology will be much better.
