Lee Woo-Jong, Vice President, Samsung Mobile Display, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, mentioned that he believes that all the manufacturers can now use the Super AMOLED display in their electronic products.
Come mid June of 2011 and the new OLED panel production line will take the production of OLED displays upward. From the current 3 million capacity, the new line will facilitate the production of 30 million small panels a month.
Mr. Lee Woo-Jong also talked about the shortage of AMOLED panels that it is affecting all the manufacturers. He mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy S does not get any priority due to this shortage.
It is expected that by 2015, the market for AMOLED devices will grow to 700 million units, a growth by 35 times. Mr. Lee also expressed happiness that after years of big amount investment, the OLED business is now reaping profits for the company.
