Samsung’s new display products at CES-2011

During the Pepcom’s “The Digital Experience!” press event at CES-2011 at Caesars’ Palace from January 5th to 7th, Samsung Mobile Display demonstrated next generation and leading edge AMOLED displays.

They also showcased the world’s first and largest transparent AMOLED display prototype during the event. This display can be used for monitors and TVs.
 
A 30% transparency is maintained whether the display is turned on or off and it provides the highest resolution on transparent large screens of 19 inch or more on monitors and TVs. Users can use the panel for surfing the Internet while watching TV or for watching TV on car windows.
 
SMD also displayed a 14 inch qFHD AMOLED display for notebook PCs.
 
Flexible displays use plastic substrates and not glass and hence the display becomes thinner and lighter. These plastic displays also don’t break during the manufacturing process hence making commercial production easier and more cost effective.
