Nippon Electric Glass has managed to produce the world’s slimmest OLED panel.
It is one-sixth of a conventional OLED display and measures 0.3 mm. It weighs 0.5g/cm2 and boasts of the latest lighting design through its 25 mm radius. It is produced by using glass substrate that is 100 micrometer thick.
The Japanese company, Nippon, has been working on glasses that can be used in display substrates. The high level of gas barrier is an important characteristic of the OLED display. The thickness also helps in easy bending of the panel.
A variety of OLED products have been utilizing the flexible OLED lighting technology. The OLED panels have the capability of emitting light when current is passed through it.
The technology has been further developed to produce white light, which is used in the lighting industry. The technology is being used in airplane interiors, automobile interiors and in various accessories.
