SMD aims to produce 30-inch OLED TV display by employing 5.5 generation technology

Samsung Mobile Display is contemplating the possibility of building a fresh OLED line in Korea’s Tangjeong.

Samsung is aiming at producing the 30-inch OLED panels by employing the 5.5th generation OLED technology. The measurement of this brand new Samsung OLED display will be 1320 x 1500 mm.

Samsung have already made their mark in OLED TV industry by introducing sleek and efficient panels. By using the fab line Samsung is going to produce high quality ultra thin OLED TV panels in South Chungcheong Province.

Right now SMD is said to be engaged in producing 20,000 OLED panels using the 4th generation technology. The company is currently possessing almost 90% of the market share.

Samsung Mobile Display has decided to invest $1.3 billion (1.5 trillion Won) in the development of their new 30-inch OLED TV panel. According to the company sources the size of investment might increase depending on the demand from the major clients like Samsung Electronics, Sharp and Sony.
