Sony has exhibited the prototype of its latest OLED TV at the latest CES show. This advanced 27 inch OLED panel from Sony has an amazing contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 projecting high quality pictures.
It has 1080 pixel resolution and a broader color gamut than the NTSC. The color accuracy of the display is much improved than that of any HDTV LCD monitor, because, the OLED pixels emit light directly and thus reflect exact colors.
Though the latest Sony OLED TV is still an ongoing project and we have just seen the model, the practical potential of the device is not clear yet. And the limited life span of the OLED display components is the common hindrance in its practical utility.
But as the recent developments of OLED technology have already achieved the Ultimate Black and the life span has increased up to 20,000 hours, the practical application of the OLED TV seems to have a brighter prospect.
