No new Sony OLED TV in 2010

It is disappointing to note that 2010 will not witness the launch of any Sony OLED TV.

On an interview, the USA President and COO of Sony Electronics, Stan Glasgow, pointed out the future of Sony OLED TVs. He said that the company is working on some OLED prototypes.

One of the prototypes, the 24.5 inch 3D OLED TV, has been seen at the CES 2010. However, there will be no new product launch this year.

The high manufacturing price of the OLED TVs has made it less commercially viable. To make it more suitable for commercial purposes, the price has to be lowered.

The prototype seen at the CES uses direct transmission instead of reflective methods and backlighting. To make this great technology more affordable, we have to wait a little longer. As the hurdle of price is overcome, Sony will launch their next OLED TV in the market.
