In a recently done interview, Stan Glasgow, the Sony Electronics USA President and COO disclosed some very interesting piece of information regarding the company’s future plans of producing new and larger OLED TVs.
According to the SonyInsider report the Sony executives have confirmed that there is little chance of the company producing any new television based on OLED technology in 2010.
Glasgow has mentioned that though Sony is working on many prototypes including the amazing Sony 3D OLED TV prototype that has been exhibited in CES, the company is not planning to release these wonderful next gen TVs within 2010.
Glasgow also added that though the company is selling a series of 3D capable TVs without any price lift (the glasses and the emitter can be fixed later on), the production cost of OLED television is so high that they cannot reduce the price of these high end TVs as yet. The Sony 11 inch XEL 1 is still selling at $2,500.
