CES 2010 saw Sony display its new 22 inch 3D OLED TV prototype.
The reports state that this TV has the best 3D picture quality of any other similar TV that were displayed at the same show. The OLED technology seems to be the best for 3D TV playback. The definition and colors were simply mind blowing.
Sony does not expect to ship this TV in 2010. Since the unit was not in full view, it was difficult to ascertain whether it is fully functional or is simply a functional unit that was only created for the show.
It is possible that the TV was set up solely for the purpose of the show but we fully believe that the technology is practical and ready to roll.
The recession at the moment is not encouraging Sony to roll out this OLED TV. After all, not too many would be keen to shell out $5,500 for it.
