OLED or Organic Light Emitting Diode is the next big thing to watch out for. At the CES 2007 held in Las Vegas, Sony demonstrated two OLED TVs. The 11-inch Sony OLED TV model is 3mm thin while the 27-inch Sony OLED TV model is less than 100 mm thin.
The LCD and Plasma screens have made way for the OLED screens. OLED screens have hogged the limelight because they are as slim as a piece of paper. These lightweight screens are flexible and can be rolled up in a scroll. Being indestructible, OLED TVs can be carried anywhere.
The Sony 11-inch OLED TV boasts of a wide SVGA panel. It has a resolution of 1024×600. The 27-inch OLED TV is armed with a full high definition panel. With a resolution of 1920×1080, this OLED TV has a contrast ratio of more than 1,000,000:1. These much awaited OLED televisions have made their debut in the market in 2007.
