TEL and SEC joint venture announced

The conclusion of a joint agreement for OLED technology between Tokyo Electron Limited and Seiko Epson Corporation was announced.

Vacuum Thermal Evaporation is the current process used in producing substrates that are a must for OLED panel production. But in order to mass produce and sell OLED panels, companies today need to develop more efficient production methods like inkjet methods for producing organic films used on the substrates.

Epson has already established an organic uniform film used in the inkjet method and also possesses multiple technologies that can help OLED production. The company also has expertise in the industrial production of inkjet technologies. This includes the development and sale of large application devices for LCDs.

Tokyo Electron Limited produces ultra large substrates for flat panel display production. It also has service bases worldwide for providing high quality services.

The joint venture is bound to get together the technical expertise of both these companies and enhance the creation of next generation OLED panels.
