A report by Displaybank, the market research company, has forecasted the transparent display market to grow to 1.17 billion units and $87.2 billion in revenue by 2025.
As per Senior Analyst Sarah Han, there are different possible applications of transparent displays including displays on buildings, automobiles and shopping mall show windows.
These displays can be utilized for information displays. Samsung Mobile Display showcased some of their large transparent OLED displays during CES 2011.
The transparency of OLED displays is achieved by making both electrodes transparent and passing them through the narrow thickness of the cathode. It is expected if LCD and OLED continue to get rid of all the obstacles they will soon affirm a leading position in the market.
It is expected that transparent displays will be released in the market in 2012. Displaybank forecasts transparent displays to be sold in the replacement market as well as in the new market.
