Universal Display declared that the DOE (US Department of Energy) has again awarded them the SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Phase I program of $99,900.
The program is called “Novel Optical Enhancement for Thin Phosphorescent OLED Lighting Panels” under which Universal Display aims to exhibit a white colored OLED phosphorescent lighting panel that uses the technique of optical enhancement which enables it to meet the criteria of Energy Star by improving out-coupling efficiency and by conserving the white color OLED lighting panel’s thin and neat form factor.
Universal Display plans to use a technique of novel out-coupling which, in spite of being much thinner, performs as brilliantly as any thicker treatment like out-coupling blocks or macro-extractors.
In most cases the use of out-coupling enhancements are done in order to add to the quantity of light that emits as functional light. A brilliant lighting panel, white PHOLED, can surely improve the company’s previous results of effectiveness of the light panel by more than 25 %.
